About Us

The «Kinder in Kenia» Aid Society
The «Kinder in Kenia» aid society was founded in March 1995 in Basel and was registered at the Chamber of Commerce. All members and employees are working for us on a voluntary basis. With the aid of membership contributions, donors, gifts, legacies and material contributions,«Kinder in Kenia» supports projects for children in the Kenian Kilifi district.
The society focusses its aid primarily on the village of Kikambala and its direct neighborhood. Many people in this area live in poverty, have no work or sufficient nutrition and live mostly in sub-hygienic conditions. Children in particular are affected, who are also deprived of proper education and schooling.

Children growing up under such poor conditions are hardly able to free themselves from poverty in adulthood, making poverty almost a hereditary condition. The slogan „Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe“ (lit:“Aid for Self-Help”) is the main focus for the «Kinder in Kenia» organisation, assisting these people to break out of this vicious cycle.
We manage and consult on a variety of projects. Among these projects are agriculture,a knitting school with workshop, fosterparenthood for orphans and abandoned children and financial support for educating village youth. We are currently planning for a carpentry shop with apprenticeship positions.
Through these projects, local villagers are engaged in useful work and this provides the basis for increased self-confidence,so creating a revived and proud community.
It is hard to find inner peace, but we should strive for it. In the quiet we find new power and harmony. Gods power will help us to make things right.
Let us thank God for all his love in all places that He gives us. Let us answer him,as an act of thankfulness and worship and love Him back. Please think about the youth of this world and give them hope.
